The beautiful Barn Owl was once a common sight across our night skies - their ghostly faces and shrieking calls were familiar to the people of the United Kingdom and no barn or village church was complete without one.
Sadly, over the last 50 years, the countryside has changed beyondrecognition and Barn Owl numbers have fallen by 70%.
Although many people have never seen one, badgers are probably one of the best-loved British mammals. The sight of a sensitive nose emerging to carefully test the air, followed by the striped head captivates watchers again and again.
