Following the invention of the explosive harpoon in 1864, the whaling industry became so ruthless and efficient that species after species were decimated, hunted almost to extinction.

Now the world's remaining whales face a new threat - drift nets.Developed by fishermen out of a desire to secure ever-increasing profitmargins, drift nets have proved to be one of the most destructivefishing practices of all time. Referred to as walls of death, driftnets catch everything in their path and play havoc with the ocean'secology and natural harmony.

If you adopt a whale we can help to protect these wonderful animals.

Adopt a whale for just £30 (either £3 a month or a one-off payment - choose your payment option below) and you will receive a Whale Adoption Pack containing:

  • an adoption certificate
  • a whale photograph
  • four whale postcards
  • One World Wildlife booklet on your species
  • a beautiful whale soft toy*
You also have the option of adding a beautiful Whale book to your adoption pack for £10. If you choose the monthly payment option then this will make your minimum monthly payment £4 rather than £3.
