The rhino is killed for its horn. Made of compacted hair and keretin(fingernail-like material), the horn is used in many traditionalmedicines and carved into ornamental dagger handles. With theadditional threats posed by deforestation and expanding agriculture,the future looks bleak for the world's remaining rhino populations.
